Sadly their downloads often have lots of adware and spyware in, or perhaps worse on some occasions! It is also pretty common to download something from one of these sites to find that it is not what they claimed it is-this is really because they are just trying to access your PC, and probably got all the access they wanted from your download. If you've downloaded stuff from a site like that, get your PC checked!
Do you suspect legal sites would do that' Let's get something straight-downloading from P2P sites is illegal. The US state are tightening the laws on this all the time, and yes folks do go to jail! Is it worth hazarding jail solely to download a free Ipod song or movie' I don't think so.
That's one of the main problems-if you are looking to download a free Ipod song, it can be pretty tough to find the sites which are actually legal-let's face it, none of the illegal ones are going to say the indisputable fact that they're illegal are they' They fundamentally make cash from people clicking on their ads, so they need as many site visitors as possible .
Having said all that, if you actually do need to download free Ipod song or two, there's a much safer option-there are some legal free download sites springing up now, and it just goes to show that Itunes don't have the monopoly. These sites are great-when you find one you are happy with you are basically set for life-don't worry, I can show you where you will find the best ones in a second. There's a catch though, in the sites have a small membership fee. The charge goes toward upkeep of their servers and stuff and also the music licenses for example. It's often between $20 and $50, and once paid helps you to log in and download anything you need at high speeds-music, movies, games, music videos even television shows. Much cheaper than Itunes.
Hopefully this has shown you how threatening it can be to use the shady free download sites that are all over the net-there is a better way to download free Ipod song! As I promised, check out some links to the best free download sites below. .

Absolute, gauge and differential pressures - zero reference
Although pressure is an absolute quantity, everyday pressure measurements, such as for tire pressure, are usually made relative to ambient air pressure. In other cases measurements are made relative to a vacuum or to some other ad hoc reference. When distinguishing between these zero references, the following terms are used:
Absolute pressure is zero referenced against a perfect vacuum, so it is equal to gauge pressure plus atmospheric pressure.
Gauge pressure is zero referenced against ambient air pressure, so it is equal to absolute pressure minus atmospheric pressure. Negative signs are usually omitted.
Differential pressure is the difference in pressure between two points.
The zero reference in use is usually implied by context, and these words are only added when clarification is needed. Tire pressure and blood pressure are gauge pressures by convention, while atmospheric pressures, deep vacuum pressures, and altimeter pressures must be absolute. Differential pressures are commonly used in industrial process systems. Differential pressure gauges have two inlet ports, each connected to one of the volumes whose pressure is to be monitored. In effect, such a gauge performs the mathematical operation of subtraction through mechanical means, obviating the need for an operator or control system to watch two separate gauges and determine the difference in readings. Moderate vacuum pressures are often ambiguous, as they may represent absolute pressure or gauge pressure without a negative sign. Thus a vacuum of 26 inHg gauge is equivalent to an absolute pressure of 30 inHg (typical atmospheric pressure) 26 inHg = 4 inHg.
Atmospheric pressure is typically about 100 kPa at sea level, but is variable with altitude and weather. If the absolute pressure of a fluid stays constant, the gauge pressure of the same fluid will vary as atmospheric pressure changes. For example, when a car drives up a mountain, the tire pressure goes up. Some standard values of atmospheric pressure such as 101.325 kPa or 100 kPa have been defined, and some instruments use one of these standard values as a constant zero reference instead of the actual variable ambient air pressure. This impairs the accuracy of these instruments, especially when used at high altitudes.
Use of the atmosphere as reference is usually signified by a (g) after the pressure unit e.g. 30 psi g, which means that the pressure measured is the total pressure minus atmospheric pressure. There are two types of gauge reference pressure: vented gauge (vg) and sealed gauge (sg).
A vented gauge pressure transmitter for example allows the outside air pressure to be exposed to the negative side of the pressure sensing diaphragm, via a vented cable or a hole on the side of the device, so that it always measures the pressure referred to ambient barometric pressure. Thus a vented gauge reference pressure sensor should always read zero pressure when the process pressure connection is held open to the air.
A sealed gauge reference is very similar except that atmospheric pressure is sealed on the negative side of the diaphragm. This is usually adopted on high pressure ranges such as hydraulics where atmospheric pressure changes will have a negligible effect on the accuracy of the reading, so venting is not necessary. This also allows some manufacturers to provide secondary pressure containment as an extra precaution for pressure equipment safety if the burst pressure of the primary pressure sensing diaphragm is exceeded.
There is another way of creating a sealed gauge reference and this is to seal a high vacuum on the reverse side of the sensing diaphragm. Then the output signal is offset so the pressure sensor reads close to zero when measuring atmospheric pressure.
A sealed gauge reference pressure transducer will never read exactly zero because atmospheric pressure is always changing and the reference in this case is fixed at 1 bar.
An absolute pressure measurement is one that is referred to absolute vacuum. The best example of an absolute referenced pressure is atmospheric or barometric pressure.
To produce an absolute pressure sensor the manufacturer will seal a high vacuum behind the sensing diaphragm. If the process pressure connection of an absolute pressure transmitter is open to the air, it will read the actual barometric pressure.

The SI unit for pressure is the pascal (Pa), equal to one newton per square metre (Nm2 or kgm1s2). This special name for the unit was added in 1971; before that, pressure in SI was expressed in units such as N/m. When indicated, the zero reference is stated in parenthesis following the unit, for example 101 kPa (abs). The pound per square inch (psi) is still in widespread use in the US and Canada, notably for cars. A letter is often appended to the psi unit to indicate the measurement's zero reference; psia for absolute, psig for gauge, psid for differential, although this practice is discouraged by the NIST .
Because pressure was once commonly measured by its ability to displace a column of liquid in a manometer, pressures are often expressed as a depth of a particular fluid (e.g. inches of water). The most common choices are mercury (Hg) and water; water is nontoxic and readily available, while mercury's density allows for a shorter column (and so a smaller manometer) to measure a given pressure.
Fluid density and local gravity can vary from one reading to another depending on local factors, so the height of a fluid column does not define pressure precisely. When 'millimetres of mercury' or 'inches of mercury' are quoted today, these units are not based on a physical column of mercury; rather, they have been given precise definitions that can be expressed in terms of SI units. The water-based units usually assume one of the older definitions of the kilogram as the weight of a litre of water.
Although no longer favoured by measurement experts, these manometric units are still encountered in many fields. Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury in most of the world, and lung pressures in centimeters of water are still common. Natural gas pipeline pressures are measured in inches of water, expressed as '"WC' ('Water Column'). Scuba divers often use a manometric rule of thumb: the pressure exerted by ten metres depth of water is approximately equal to one atmosphere. In vacuum systems, the units torr, micrometre of mercury (micron), and inch of mercury (inHg) are most commonly used. Torr and micron usually indicates an absolute pressure, while inHg usually indicates a gauge pressure.
Atmospheric pressures are usually stated using kilopascal (kPa), or atmospheres (atm), except in American meteorology where the hectopascal (hPa) and millibar (mbar) are preferred. In American and Canadian engineering, stress is often measured in kip. Note that stress is not a true pressure since it is not scalar. In the cgs system the unit of pressure was the barye (ba), equal to 1 dyncm2. In the mts system, the unit of pressure was the pieze, equal to 1 sthene per square metre.
Many other hybrid units are used such as mmHg/cm or grams-force/cm (sometimes as kg/cm and g/mol2 without properly identifying the force units). Using the names kilogram, gram, kilogram-force, or gram-force (or their symbols) as a unit of force is forbidden in SI; the unit of force in SI is the newton (N).
Static and Dynamic pressure
Static pressure is uniform in all directions, so pressure measurements are independent of direction in an immovable (static) fluid. Flow, however, applies additional pressure on surfaces perpendicular to the flow direction, while having little impact on surfaces parallel to the flow direction. This directional component of pressure in a moving (dynamic) fluid is called dynamic pressure. An instrument facing the flow direction measures the sum of the static and dynamic pressures; this measurement is called the total pressure or stagnation pressure. Since dynamic pressure is referenced to static pressure, it is neither gauge nor absolute; it is a differential pressure.
While static gauge pressure is of primary importance to determining net loads on pipe walls, dynamic pressure is used to measure flow rates and airspeed. Dynamic pressure can be measured by taking the differential pressure between instruments parallel and perpendicular to the flow. Pitot-static tubes, for example perform this measurement on airplanes to determine airspeed. The presence of the measuring instrument inevitably acts to divert flow and create turbulence, so its shape is critical to accuracy and the calibration curves are often non-linear.

Instruments
Many instruments have been invented to measure pressure, with different advantages and disadvantages. Pressure range, sensitivity, dynamic response and cost all vary by several orders of magnitude from one instrument design to the next. The oldest type is the liquid column (a vertical tube filled with mercury) manometer invented by Evangelista Torricelli in 1643. The U-Tube was invented by Christian Huygens in 1661.
Hydrostatic
Hydrostatic gauges (such as the mercury column manometer) compare pressure to the hydrostatic force per unit area at the base of a column of fluid. Hydrostatic gauge measurements are independent of the type of gas being measured, and can be designed to have a very linear calibration. They have poor dynamic response.
Piston
Piston-type gauges counterbalance the pressure of a fluid with a solid weight or a spring. Another name for piston gauge is deadweight tester. For example, dead-weight testers used for calibration or tire-pressure gauges.
Liquid column
The difference in fluid height in a liquid column manometer is proportional to the pressure difference.
Liquid column gauges consist of a vertical column of liquid in a tube whose ends are exposed to different pressures. The column will rise or fall until its weight is in equilibrium with the pressure differential between the two ends of the tube. A very simple version is a U-shaped tube half-full of liquid, one side of which is connected to the region of interest while the reference pressure (which might be the atmospheric pressure or a vacuum) is applied to the other. The difference in liquid level represents the applied pressure. The pressure exerted by a column of fluid of height h and density is given by the hydrostatic pressure equation, P = hg. Therefore the pressure difference between the applied pressure Pa and the reference pressure P0 in a U-tube manometer can be found by solving Pa P0 = hg. If the fluid being measured is significantly dense, hydrostatic corrections may have to be made for the height between the moving surface of the manometer working fluid and the location where the pressure measurement is desired.
Although any fluid can be used, mercury is preferred for its high density (13.534 g/cm3) and low vapour pressure. For low pressure differences well above the vapour pressure of water, water is commonly used (and "inches of water" is a common pressure unit). Liquid-column pressure gauges are independent of the type of gas being measured and have a highly linear calibration. They have poor dynamic response. When measuring vacuum, the working liquid may evaporate and contaminate the vacuum if its vapor pressure is too high. When measuring liquid pressure, a loop filled with gas or a light fluid must isolate the liquids to prevent them from mixing. Simple hydrostatic gauges can measure pressures ranging from a few Torr (a few 100 Pa) to a few atmospheres. (Approximately 1,000,000 Pa)
A single-limb liquid-column manometer has a larger reservoir instead of one side of the U-tube and has a scale beside the narrower column. The column may be inclined to further amplify the liquid movement. Based on the use and structure following type of manometers are used
Simple Manometer
Micromanometer
Differential manometer
Inverted differential manometer
A McLeod gauge, drained of mercury
McLeod gauge
A McLeod gauge isolates a sample of gas and compresses it in a modified mercury manometer until the pressure is a few mmHg. The gas must be well-behaved during its compression (it must not condense, for example). The technique is slow and unsuited to continual monitoring, but is capable of good accuracy.
Useful range: above 10-4 torr (roughly 10-2 Pa) as high as 106В Torr (0.1 mPa),
0.1 mPa is the lowest direct measurement of pressure that is possible with current technology. Other vacuum gauges can measure lower pressures, but only indirectly by measurement of other pressure-controlled properties. These indirect measurements must be calibrated to SI units via a direct measurement, most commonly a McLeod gauge.
Aneroid
Aneroid gauges are based on a metallic pressure sensing element which flexes elastically under the effect of a pressure difference across the element. "Aneroid" means "without fluid," and the term originally distinguished these gauges from the hydrostatic gauges described above. However, aneroid gauges can be used to measure the pressure of a liquid as well as a gas, and they are not the only type of gauge that can operate without fluid. For this reason, they are often called mechanical gauges in modern language. Aneroid gauges are not dependent on the type of gas being measured, unlike thermal and ionization gauges, and are less likely to contaminate the system than hydrostatic gauges. The pressure sensing element may be a Bourdon tube, a diaphragm, a capsule, or a set of bellows, which will change shape in response to the pressure of the region in question. The deflection of the pressure sensing element may be read by a linkage connected to a needle, or it may be read by a secondary transducer. The most common secondary transducers in modern vacuum gauges measure a change in capacitance due to the mechanical deflection. Gauges that rely on a change in capacitances are often referred to as Baratron gauges.
Bourdon
Membrane-type manometer
A Bourdon gauge uses a coiled tube, which, as it expands due to pressure increase causes a rotation of an arm connected to the tube. In 1849 the Bourdon tube pressure gauge was patented in France by Eugene Bourdon.
The pressure sensing element is a closed coiled tube connected to the chamber or pipe in which pressure is to be sensed. As the gauge pressure increases the tube will tend to uncoil, while a reduced gauge pressure will cause the tube to coil more tightly. This motion is transferred through a linkage to a gear train connected to an indicating needle. The needle is presented in front of a card face inscribed with the pressure indications associated with particular needle deflections. In a barometer, the Bourdon tube is sealed at both ends and the absolute pressure of the ambient atmosphere is sensed. Differential Bourdon gauges use two Bourdon tubes and a mechanical linkage that compares the readings.
In the following illustrations the transparent cover face of the pictured combination pressure and vacuum gauge has been removed and the mechanism removed from the case. This particular gauge is a combination vacuum and pressure gauge used for automotive diagnosis:
Indicator side with card and dial
Mechanical side with Bourdon tube
the left side of the face, used for measuring manifold vacuum, is calibrated in centimetres of mercury on its inner scale and inches of mercury on its outer scale.
the right portion of the face is used to measure fuel pump pressure and is calibrated in fractions of 1 kgf/cm on its inner scale and pounds per square inch on its outer scale.

Indicator needle axle. This has a spur gear that engages the sector gear (7) and extends through the face to drive the indicator needle. Due to the short distance between the lever arm link boss and the pivot pin and the difference between the effective radius of the sector gear and that of the spur gear, any motion of the Bourdon tube is greatly amplified. A small motion of the tube results in a large motion of the indicator needle.

Diaphragm
A pile of pressure capsules with corrugated diaphragms in an aneroid barograph.
A second type of aneroid gauge uses the deflection of a flexible membrane that separates regions of different pressure. The amount of deflection is repeatable for known pressures so the pressure can be determined by using calibration. The deformation of a thin diaphragm is dependent on the difference in pressure between its two faces. The reference face can be open to atmosphere to measure gauge pressure, open to a second port to measure differential pressure, or can be sealed against a vacuum or other fixed reference pressure to measure absolute pressure. The deformation can be measured using mechanical, optical or capacitive techniques. Ceramic and metallic diaphragms are used.
Useful range: above 10-2 Torr (roughly 1 Pa)
For absolute measurements, welded pressure capsules with diaphragms on either side are often used.

Bellows
In gauges intended to sense small pressures or pressure differences, or require that an absolute pressure be measured, the gear train and needle may be driven by an enclosed and sealed bellows chamber, called an aneroid, which means "without liquid". (Early barometers used a column of liquid such as water or the liquid metal mercury suspended by a vacuum.) This bellows configuration is used in aneroid barometers (barometers with an indicating needle and dial card), altimeters, altitude recording barographs, and the altitude telemetry instruments used in weather balloon radiosondes. These devices use the sealed chamber as a reference pressure and are driven by the external pressure. Other sensitive aircraft instruments such as air speed indicators and rate of climb indicators (variometers) have connections both to the internal part of the aneroid chamber and to an external enclosing chamber.
Electronic pressure sensors
Main article: Pressure sensor
Piezoresistive Strain Gage
Uses the piezoresistive effect of bonded or formed strain gauges to detect strain due to applied pressure.
Capacitive
Uses a diaphragm and pressure cavity to create a variable capacitor to detect strain due to applied pressure.
Magnetic
Measures the displacement of a diaphragm by means of changes in inductance (reluctance), LVDT, Hall Effect, or by eddy current principal.
Piezoelectric
Uses the piezoelectric effect in certain materials such as quartz to measure the strain upon the sensing mechanism due to pressure.
Optical
Uses the physical change of an optical fiber to detect strain due applied pressure.
Potentiometric
Uses the motion of a wiper along a resistive mechanism to detect the strain caused by applied pressure.
Resonant
Uses the changes in resonant frequency in a sensing mechanism to measure stress, or changes in gas density, caused by applied pressure.
Thermal conductivity
Generally, as a real gas increases in density -which may indicate an increase in pressure- its ability to conduct heat increases. In this type of gauge, a wire filament is heated by running current through it. A thermocouple or Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) can then be used to measure the temperature of the filament. This temperature is dependent on the rate at which the filament loses heat to the surrounding gas, and therefore on the thermal conductivity. A common variant is the Pirani gauge which uses a single platinum filament as both the heated element and RTD. These gauges are accurate from 10 Torr to 103В Torr, but they are sensitive to the chemical composition of the gases being measured.
Two wire
One wire coil is used as a heater, and the other is used to measure nearby temperature due to convection.
Pirani (one wire)
A Pirani gauge consists of a metal wire open to the pressure being measured. The wire is heated by a current flowing through it and cooled by the gas surrounding it. If the gas pressure is reduced, the cooling effect will decrease, hence the equilibrium temperature of the wire will increase. The resistance of the wire is a function of its temperature: by measuring the voltage across the wire and the current flowing through it, the resistance (and so the gas pressure) can be determined. This type of gauge was invented by Marcello Pirani.
Thermocouple gauges and thermistor gauges work in a similar manner, except a thermocouple or thermistor is used to measure the temperature of the wire.
Useful range: 10-3 - 10 Torr (roughly 10-1 - 1000 Pa)
Ionization gauge
Ionization gauges are the most sensitive gauges for very low pressures (also referred to as hard or high vacuum). They sense pressure indirectly by measuring the electrical ions produced when the gas is bombarded with electrons. Fewer ions will be produced by lower density gases. The calibration of an ion gauge is unstable and dependent on the nature of the gases being measured, which is not always known. They can be calibrated against a McLeod gauge which is much more stable and independent of gas chemistry.
Thermionic emission generate electrons, which collide with gas atoms and generate positive ions. The ions are attracted to a suitably biased electrode known as the collector. The current in the collector is proportional to the rate of ionization, which is a function of the pressure in the system. Hence, measuring the collector current gives the gas pressure. There are several sub-types of ionization gauge.
Useful range: 10-10 - 10-3 torr (roughly 10-8 - 10-1 Pa)
Most ion gauges come in two types: hot cathode and cold cathode, a third type exists which is more sensitive and expensive known as a spinning rotor gauge, but is not discussed here. In the hot cathode version an electrically heated filament produces an electron beam. The electrons travel through the gauge and ionize gas molecules around them. The resulting ions are collected at a negative electrode. The current depends on the number of ions, which depends on the pressure in the gauge. Hot cathode gauges are accurate from 103В Torr to 1010В Torr. The principle behind cold cathode version is the same, except that electrons are produced in a discharge created by a high voltage electrical discharge. Cold Cathode gauges are accurate from 102В Torr to 109В Torr. Ionization gauge calibration is very sensitive to construction geometry, chemical composition of gases being measured, corrosion and surface deposits. Their calibration can be invalidated by activation at atmospheric pressure or low vacuum. The composition of gases at high vacuums will usually be unpredictable, so a mass spectrometer must be used in conjunction with the ionization gauge for accurate measurement.
Hot cathode
Bayard-Alpert hot cathode ionization gauge
A hot cathode ionization gauge is mainly composed of three electrodes all acting as a triode, where the cathode is the filament. The three electrodes are a collector or plate, a filament, and a grid. The collector current is measured in picoamps by an electrometer. The filament voltage to ground is usually at a potential of 30 volts while the grid voltage at 180210 volts DC, unless there is an optional electron bombardment feature, by heating the grid which may have a high potential of approximately 565 volts. The most common ion gauge is the hot cathode Bayard-Alpert gauge, with a small ion collector inside the grid. A glass envelope with an opening to the vacuum can surround the electrodes, but usually the Nude Gauge is inserted in the vacuum chamber directly, the pins being fed through a ceramic plate in the wall of the chamber. Hot cathode gauges can be damaged or lose their calibration if they are exposed to atmospheric pressure or even low vacuum while hot. The measurements of a hot cathode ionization gauge are always logarithmic.
Electrons emitted from the filament move several times in back and forth movements around the grid before finally entering the grid. During these movements, some electrons collide with a gaseous molecule to form a pair of an ion and an electron (Electron ionization). The number of these ions is proportional to the gaseous molecule density multiplied by the electron current emitted from the filament, and these ions pour into the collector to form an ion current. Since the gaseous molecule density is proportional to the pressure, the pressure is estimated by measuring the ion current.
The low pressure sensitivity of hot cathode gauges is limited by the photoelectric effect. Electrons hitting the grid produce x-rays that produce photoelectric noise in the ion collector. This limits the range of older hot cathode gauges to 108 Torr and the Bayard-Alpert to about 1010 Torr. Additional wires at cathode potential in the line of sight between the ion collector and the grid prevent this effect. In the extraction type the ions are not attracted by a wire, but by an open cone. As the ions cannot decide which part of the cone to hit, they pass through the hole and form an ion beam. This ion beam can be passed on to a

Cold cathode
There are two subtypes of cold cathode ionization gauges: the Penning gauge (invented by Frans Michel Penning), and the Inverted magnetron, also called a Redhead gauge. The major difference between the two is the position of the anode with respect to the cathode. Neither has a filament, and each may require a DC potential of about 4 kV for operation. Inverted magnetrons can measure down to 1x1012 Torr.
Such gauges cannot operate if the ions generated by the cathode recombine before reaching the anodes. If the mean-free path of the gas within the gauge is smaller than the gauge's dimensions, then the electrode current will essentially vanish. A practical upper-bound to the detectable pressure is, for a Penning gauge, of the order of 103 Torr.
Similarly, cold cathode gauges may be reluctant to start at very low pressures, in that the near-absence of a gas makes it difficult to establish an electrode current - particularly in Penning gauges which use an axially symmetric magnetic field to create path lengths for ions which are of the order of metres. In ambient air suitable ion-pairs are ubiquitously formed by cosmic radiation; in a Penning gauge design features are used to ease the set-up of a discharge path. For example, the electrode of a Penning gauge is usually finely tapered to facilitate the field emission of electrons.
Maintenance cycles of cold cathode gauges is generally measured in years, depending on the gas type and pressure that they are operated in. Using a cold cathode gauge in gases with substantial organic components, such as pump oil fractions, can result in the growth of delicate carbon films and shards within the gauge which eventually either short-circuit the electrodes of the gauge, or impede the generation of a discharge path.
Calibration
Pressure gauges are either direct- or indirect-reading. Hydrostatic and elastic gauges measure pressure are directly influenced by force exerted on the surface by incident particle flux, and are called direct reading gauges. Thermal and ionization gauges read pressure indirectly by measuring a gas property that changes in a predictable manner with gas density. Indirect measurements are susceptible to more errors than direct measurements.

Dynamic transients
When fluid flows are not in equilibrium, local pressures may be higher or lower than the average pressure in a medium. These disturbances propagate from their source as longitudinal pressure variations along the path of propagation. This is also called sound. Sound pressure is the instantaneous local pressure deviation from the average pressure caused by a sound wave. Sound pressure can be measured using a microphone in air and a hydrophone in water. The effective sound pressure is the root mean square of the instantaneous sound pressure over a given interval of time. Sound pressures are normally small and are often expressed in units of microbar.

The greatest convenience that you can ever enjoy from using bluetooth headphones is wireless mobility but not at the expense of higher power consumption. Although there still are other types of wireless headphones available on the market today, bluetooth headsets outrun them in terms of ease, convenience, and mobility.
The most common type of wireless headphones are radio frequency headphones, which make use of radio waves to link two devices--a transmitter and a receiver (usually the headphone). Another popular type are infrared headphones, which are still wireless and use infrared frequency waves for communication between the linked devices. Both of these types of headphones have limitations that bluetooth headphones have gotten over. For example, the signal or transmission range of bluetooth headsets can cover a radius of up to 100 meters, especially for Class 1 devices. Radio frequency headphones, however, can cover a wider radius, but they also consume more power than bluetooth-equipped headphones do. So, in terms of signal coverage and power consumption, any headphone with bluetooth capability has the perfect mix.
Another reason that makes bluetooth headsets a better alternative to other wireless headphones is the wide range of devices that you can use with them. The most common devices that you can use your bluetooth-capable headphones with are mobile phones, media players, computers, and game boxes.
These days, the most common device used with bluetooth-capable headphones are cell phones and personal digital assistants (PDA). Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) allows many mobile phones and personal digital assistants to stream high-quality audio to your bluetooth-capable headphones. For you, this means eliminating the hassle of using wired headphones just to listen to audio from your mobile phone or PDA. But, that's just part of the bigger picture. Many wireless headphones also have built-in microphones. If your cell phone, personal digital assistant, or handheld device supports the Bluetooth Headset Profile (HSP), Hands-Free Profile (HFP), and Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), you can use your bluetooth-capable headphone for more than just listening to streaming audio. You can also make and receive calls, as well as control your device wirelessly.
Next to mobile phones and PDAs, computers are common partners of bluetooth headsets. Wherever a software application requires the use of a headphones and microphones, your bluetooth-enabled headphones have that covered, as well. Voice chatting and video chatting through such platforms as Skype or Google Chat become more convenient with wire-free use of headphones that are paired or linked to your laptop or desktop computer via bluetooth.
The media players are also catching up to the bluetooth craze. Many of the latest models of portable players--from MP3 players to DVD players and the like--are starting to support and enable bluetooth functionality. This is good news for you because you can pair your bluetooth-equipped headsets with such devices and enjoy your digital music and videos without the wires.
Gamers have also stepped up to the bluetooth bandwagon. The latest generation of game consoles, for example, are beginning to include features that allow game players to go online, as well as to establish and interact with online social communities. With bluetooth headsets enabling you to chat with your game mates while both of your hands are preoccupied by the game controllers, you can easily keep in touch with fellow gamers while standing far away from your game box.
With more and more devices adding support for them, bluetooth headphones will soon be the dominant type of headphones for use in listening to audio and for voice chats.
Choosing a smartphone is never an easy task. You cannot change your cell phone every month that's why you have to think in a long term perspective, being aware that a qwerty phone you buy will serve you for at least a year or more.
First step in finding the best qwerty phone for you would be to determine the budget and decide if you would buy an unlocked phone or one tied up with a contract.
Applying for an 18-month contract, there is a chance you will get a free qwerty cell phone and a monthly data package or a hefty rebate from the selling price. It is the easiest option, however, nothing comes for free - you're just getting your phone on split payments over the next 18 months. In most cases you will find that you pay less for minutes, texts and data if you are not on a subsidized contract, i.e. you buy an unlocked phone and pay the full price.
It all depends on your budget. If you have free money now, buy an unlocked phone and shop around for the best monthly price plan. If you decide to go for unlocked qwerty cell phone models, you have to allocate around $200. That starter sum of money can buy you an unlocked Palm Treo 680 or a Pantech Duo. The top-end qwerty cell phones will cost over $400 - an unlocked BlackBerry Bold World phone can cost you around $650. If this doesn't sound like the right option, visit your wireless carrier for the free subsidized phone offers.
Operational System
It is easy to sort qwerty cell phone models by the (OS) operational systems they use. OS is a software environment that makes your cell phone run, managing calls, contacts, games, applications and all other functions.
The most obvious choice for majority of people would be a Windows Mobile OS, as it gives you a familiar interface similar to a PC, easy synchronization (data transfer between a mobile phone and a PC) and crash-free operation. The most popular qwerty cell phone models using Windows Mobile OS are HTC 620 (aka HTC Dash), HTC S740 and Palm Treo W edition.
Those who enjoy using hand-helds like Palm Pilot and other pocket organizers running Palm OS will probably want to follow their passion and stick with Palm. The most popular cell phones of this kind are Palm Treo models. There are different ones - check with your provider if the Treo model you like can be supported by your country network. For example, you will find it difficult to use Palm Treo 680 in USA because it does't run on CDMA networks.
Another popular choice is Symbian OS used by Nokia smartphones. Some people feel that Symbian is becoming old and outdated in comparison with Windows, especially when it comes to editing Office documents. However, Symbian is an open-source program, which means that any programmer can develop apps and features for the OS. If you are keen on upgrading you basic cell phone with new apps and games, Symbian is the one to choose. With new open-source OS solutions like Android (the first qwerty cell phone using Android OS is Google G1 phone) taking on strength, it is possible that Symbian may fade away in next couple of years.
Another popular OS is BlackBerry - it is a light-weight Java based OS exclusively used by BlackBerry qwerty cell phones. BlackBerry gadgets are a good choice for business users but they are still to struggle in order to knock Windows Mobile from its pedestal of Number One smartphone software in the world.
Features and Entertainment
There are many different criteria for comparing qwerty cell phone models. You have to decide which features are the most important for you.
If you are keen on music and streaming video, you might find that Windows Media Player for Mobile suits your needs best. A phone with Windows Media Player will replace your MP3 player and your video player.
It is also preferable that a qwerty phone has a digital camera integrated. You need at least 1.3 or 2.0 Megapixels for quality images. Be aware that Palm Treo 680 has a 0.3 Megapixels camera and BlackBerry 7 has no camera at all.
A very important factor is the quality of the keyboard. I still think that the majority of people make their choice according to their thumb size. It is better to pop into a mobile shop and thest the keys of different qwerty cell phone models. The most tactile buttons are on HTC 620 and Nokia N71 - that's why people with large hands usually pick these models or choose a slide-out qwerty cell phone (like HTC S740 or Google G1) where the keyboard is even bigger.
There is no such thing as the best qwerty phone in the world. All the major qwerty phone makers have spent restless months or even years and millions of dollars developing smartphone models and you shouldn't really experience much trouble with any gadget. This is probably the case when you need to let your heart (or should I say thumbs) rule your head.
Lately webmasters have noticed that some pages are appearing very high in Google SERP (Search Engine Ranking Pages) without even a single presence of the search term; albeit topically succinct. This is a significant departure from what is widely known that for a page to appear for the search term "Apple Computer", the term should be used in the page fairly frequently. In fact this has been the basis of a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tactic called Keyword Density.
This then means that when you do a search for "Apple Computers" you will tend to see pages that do not contain this particular term. But they will contain terms like Mac, Macintosh or G4. These are what are termed as SE (Search Engine) synonyms. Evidently Google seems to consider the terms "Mac" etc similar in meaning as "Apple Computers". This is comparable to the way you would use the words "car" and "vehicle" interchangeably. And consequently instead of serving back pages strictly with the terms Apple Computers it also includes pages without the term but include terms it considers similar like Mac and Macintosh.
These SE synonyms are an expression of Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) discussed here last week, peculiar so far only to Google search. But of more importance to a web business is that it impacts significantly on what you can rank for and how you optimize your web pages on this leading SE. Previously, to rank for all the keywords related to "Apple Computer" you would need to write separate pages for each term. But with this development, it seems the same page could appear for any of the search terms - even without those other terms present within the content.
If you particularly use SEs to drive your online business, LSI adds one more strategy into your bag of SEO tactic. The tactic is simply this; when writing content for your website, make a conscious effort to include SE synonyms in the page. So instead of only using the term "Apple Computers" interchange it with G4 and Macintosh. This will greatly improve the relevance of your page. Not only will Google notice your main keywords but also the use of synonyms. This makes the page super-relevant to the synonymic search terms in the eyes of the SE algorithm.
To determine SE synonyms use the toogle key before your search query. The toogle key is the key with the "~" sign. You will need to hold down the shift key. For example, if you type it before the term "Apple Computers" you will notice that in the resulting SERP include the words Mac, Macintosh and G4 in bold. The bolded words are what the SE also considers as synonyms to the search queries.
How well do you know the company that is most admired in the US and even in the world? Well, who cares? So long as one enjoys using the iPod or the iPhone and gets to use the Mac conveniently, what is there to know about this company? But for the curious ones, here are tidbits about the company that many has grown to love.
Apple was established in Cupertino, California in 1976 by Steve Jobs, John Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. It was incorporated in 1997 and called the Apple Computer, Inc. It was first established to market a compute that is designed by Wozniak that they call the Apple I personal computer kit. Thirty years hence, it dropped the word Computer to reflect its diversification into other electronic products save from its original focus on personal computers.
Since then, Apple has established a unique reputation in the computer industry. It has a loyal customer base that tends to create a unique Apple/Mac community that is distinct from other electronic gadget users. Such uniqueness makes the Apple products a top item in the hierarchy of most – coveted electronic gadget, be it a laptop, a digital player or a mobile phone.
The fist personal computer kit, by today's standard is a doubtful candidate for being called a proper computer. However, from such a laughable bunch of keyboards, monitor and other awkward gadgets rose the conglomerate that gives the world the best and most well – engineered electronic products and software there is.
Apple loyalists are surely familiar with the range of hardware and software products of the company. Best known hardware include the Macintosh computer, the iPhone, the iPod, and the most recent, the iPad. Software and their functions include:
The Mac OS X operating system that runs on every apple computer and desk top The iTunes media browser The iLife , a bunch of multimedia and creativity software The iWork, used for professional audio and film production software The Logic Studio, a suite of audio tools.
All these software are exclusively running on apple hardware. Unlike its rival Microsoft's Windows environment, Apple's Mac OS rarely run on cheap to moderately – priced hardware. It is always shipped with state of the art, beautifully designed and yet quite expensive computer, laptop or mobile phone.
But such do not deter a lot of people from patronizing Apple's products. Mac users say they would never trade their Mac Book for anything else. It does not only help in their job. It also makes them look good.
Apple has had its shares of ups and down as a company. To date, Apple has successfully built a global brand that is known to many yet used by only a few. On the top of the reasons is that their products are very expensive. Apple relies more on big margins rather than mass production, and it suits just well for the company's image. Exclusivity, coupled with great engineering and intelligent software, Apple is and will continue to be the most admired company and its products most sought after.
Looking for a gift for the business person in your life? Look no further than wireless headphones as the perfect gift…even for the person who has everything. These excellent music accessories make a great gift to give, whether as a business gift or as a personal gift to someone important to you. What makes these listening devices such a good gift? It says that you value their time, safety, and happiness because of what these type of head phones offer.
Professionals can use these for a number of uses. In the office, they allow them to listen to music on their computer, or to take e-learning training or webinars without bothering the people around them and without having cords to get the way of their work.
These same professionals can answer phone calls with wireless headphones and attached microphones, allowing them to converse and participate in conference calls while at the same time doing work that needs to get done (typing, filing, filling out reports, cleaning up their desk, etc.). If the signal sending unit is located close enough, they may even be able to wander around their office while they talk, allowing them to stay engaged in the conversation without getting sleepy or bored by sitting down the entire time. Many units have signal distances of up to 300' away.
While on the road, they allow the professional user to make calls without taking their hands off of the wheel or their eyes off the road. It's a great way to help the busy professional stay in control of the car even during a business call. (However, many people suggest that you should still pull over to the side of the road while taking a call because your mind may not be on the road).
Traveling for business sometimes means working in airplanes, airports, and staying in hotels. Having wireless headphones allow the professional to plug into their laptop and do their work without having to untangle the cords.
Expect to spend $100 or more for a decent set of wireless head phones. You may also want to get batteries for them so the person can use them right away out of the box. There are a number of good brands out there. Some of the top names include: Koss, Logitech, Panasonic, Sennheiser, Iawa, and Shure, bluetooth, AKG, Audio-technica, Etymotic Research, JVC, Skullcandy, Philips, although there are many others.
There are a range of prices and styles. Some of the things you'll want to look for include noise canceling features (to keep out background noise) but those are often (not always), bigger and bulkier than the smaller ones available. One of the best kinds are canalbuds, which fit right into the ear (but don't mix them up with earbuds which are cheaper versions that may be of a slightly lower quality). Canalbuds offer noise dampening and great sound, and are very high quality, but can also be expensive.
Wireless headphones are the ultimate in convenience and safety because of their hands-free use and lack of cords. The professional you're buying a gift for will thank you for making their life far more convenient and enjoyable.
These days, a big screen is one of the best ways to ensure success in the mobile world. Let's check out 3 of the biggest screens ever seen on mobile phones.
Nokia N97 - 3.5 inch screen and full QWERTY keyboard
The Nokia N97 takes the Symbian touch interface, and builds it into the body of a true smartphone, with sliding QWERTY keyboard, a larger screen, and a massive 32Gb of built-in memory. There are very few phones on the market that can match it for sheer performance, and... well... the word 'powerhouse' could have almost been made exclusively for the Nokia N97. In addition to the obvious extra benefits you get from a QWERTY keyboard, it also includes a great camera, that comes in at 5 megapixels. Without a doubt, the Nokia N97 is the most advanced Symbian phone in production at the moment.
Toshiba TG01 - 4.1 inch screen and 1GHz processor
The Touch HD once had the biggest screen in the world, but it's been ousted by the Toshiba TG01, with a screen that comes in at an unbelievable 4.1 inches. That huge screen and the ludicrously fast 1GHz processor give Windows a whole new lease of life, removing any of the 'clunkiness' Windows phones of long ago may have had.
In the case of the Toshiba TG01, Windows Mobile is allied to a brand new, 3D interface, with a series of 3 revolving strips that contain all your apps and shortcuts. The animations and actions of the interface are smooth and beautiful, and the Toshiba TG01 proves that as far as operating systems go, Windows Mobile is still one of the hottest properties in the world.
Samsung i8910 HD - 3.7 inch screen and HD video
One the one hand, there's the Nokia N97, with its 3.5 inch screen, and a full, slide-out keyboard. And on the other, there's the Toshiba TG01, with its massive screen, and its key feature (the fastest mobile processor in the world). And then, there's the Samsung i8910 HD, and it has one big advantage over the other two. Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video. Never before has a phone been able to capture video at that massive high resolution, and coincidentally (or is it coincidence? Maybe not...), the Samsung i8910 HD captures high-def video at the exact quality that Youtube display high-def videos at. It's very possible that the Samsung i8910 HD was designed with its main feature being the ability to get yourself on Youtube, in high-definition. Combine that with the sumptuous 3.7 inch screen, and a huge 8Gb of internal memory, and it's very clear that the Samsung i8910 HD deserves to be one of the phones of the year!

At this QuickOffice week I look at HD IPAD. In my course of application performance, I am very happy with what comes out of community development IPAD. QuickOffice Does HD raises the bar again? Lets dive right in and look.
The first documents to QuickOffice HD is relatively simple. First, you need to know the ability to synchronize with iTunes. Just to add to documents and the synchronization, they appear in the application. However, the more useful feature is the ability to synchronize with the cloud. QuickOffice supports basic Suspects: MobileMe iDisk, both public and private, Google Docs, Box.net and Dropbox. Enter the login credentials, and QuickOffice will synchronize folders to IPAD, but not content. Gives a preview of the contents of the folder, but only load when you try to access the document. Once available, it is stored locally. You can also open and save documents and e-mail that there is always a bonus.
Folder navigation is very similar to the Macintosh Finder column view. This is my favorite view on the Mac, so Im very happy with this and I was instantly familiar. You can create new folders with a simple touch of a plus icon, and delete the e-mail and documents is easy, press and hold the document and drag it to the appropriate e-mail and delete the icon at the bottom.
To open a document may be used to name or rename it by selecting the blue arrow indicative of IOS for more information. Navigation in the documents is easy and innovative. For example, in a document, you can pinch to zoom out and appeared on all sides. Then you can quickly flick to the end of the document. However, a great alternative is to use the old and the right side of the screen. You can then slide your finger down and presented a preview of each document page through Mac OS X Dock magnification view of style, very, very nice. Into a spreadsheet, tweaking and zooms, and get very comfortable handles the selection choice of the cell. I prefer the functions of what some competitors offer. There is also a nice built-in security features, application auto saves every minute of work. So if you forget to save and close the application, you are safe.
Create documents and spreadsheets are easy and fun. All the basic formatting options are available. Bold, colors, fonts, underline, alignment, formats, etc. For each type of solid editing application that will fit your needs. But there is one glaring omission: document presentation. True, QuickOffice does not support HD PowerPoint or other applications of document presentation format. Its such a shame, because it is very close to my favorite tool for creating and editing documents on the IPAD. However, having no such aid is aa major hit for me in performance and competition on its feet here. However, Quick Office is not so many things right, I found myself going back and forth between the iWork for IPAD Documents To Go for IPAD and QuickOffice HD depending on what I have do. Competition is good, and all of these applications does something better than others.

In my spare time when I'm not tinkering with computers and other fun gadgets, I'm a big music nut and somewhat of an audiophile, if you will. Looking for quality headphones as I tend to travel a lot I kept hearing all the hype about Dr. Dre's & Lady Gaga's set of celebrity affiliated headphone line. So I decided to pick them up and give them a shot
Some items I always look for in headphones (and unfortunately, as a software developer I've gone through a lot as I'm always listening to music):
Comfort - This is key to me...sometimes I'll go hours before taking my headphones off Noise Canceling - I wear headphones for a very important 2nd reason: I don't want to hear peripheral noise when I'm in the zone How well does my music sound? Can I see myself using them on a daily basis?
В
This is my experience:
![]()
General Review
Pros:
1. They're very stylish - I get lots of questions as people notice them, especially girls, so if anything they're a great conversation starter
2. They're comfortable - The padding in the cuffs themselves are definitely top notch for this price range and they don't irritate my sensitive ears as I tend to usually blast my music
3. They provide a pretty good balance in terms of sound and a nice thumping of bass (especially with Hip Hop)
Cons:
1. They require 2 AAA Batteries
2. The packaging is a bit excessive
3. They are a tad big, but I don't mind this
Technical Review
Pros:
1. I thought all of the hype in quality was hear-say, but the sound quality is pretty impressive. Music at the sound rate of 128kbps to 192kbps that I tested (the average rate for most music) sounds INCREDIBLE for headphones
2. 1/8″ to 1/4″ adapter with 24k gold contacts is included
3. Noise canceling is available
Cons:
1. The noise canceling isn't the best, but it's tolerable. Unless I'm blasting music and in the zone, I occasionally hear noise
For the most part, these headphones fit my guidelines from earlier. If you care to find out more about Dr. Dre's Monster Beat Headphones check them out. I don't think I'll do away with them just yet.
Side note, another great set of headphones that I was torn between was the Bose Noise Canceling Headphones. Only reason I didnt choose these was simply cause I didn't have the disposable funds available at the time. Maybe this will be my next purchase, hmmm
Hope this helps!
Cheers,

Sporting the new AMOLED touch screen display technology, the Samsung Omnia 2 is set to blow your mind away with its large 3.7 inch screen which displays at 480 x 800 resolution - offering users an all new touch screen experience.
Omnia 2 has an 800MHz processor which is unarguably one of the best available in the market. Other specifications include a healthy 256MB of RAM and 512MB ROM. The internal storage capacity is 8GB.
Samsung ships the phone with an AC Adapter, Li-Ion battery, microUSB data cable, 1GB microSD card, Stylus pen, NAVFone Plus navigation software, Stereo headphones with microphone extension cord and a carrying pouch.
Design
Omnia 2 has a simple and straight forward design. It resembles Samsung Jet in many aspects, but is bigger. The most striking feature on the phone is indeed its giant display. Everything else has been kept to a bare minimum. Most controls on the phone are in the front. The rear part of the phone simply houses the 5 megapixel camera.
Display
The display is brilliant. It produces crisp and vivid images. On the flip side, the display supports just 65000 colors as against the 16 million found on Palm Pre, iPhone and N97. Another drawback would be the display plastic housing which gives a cheap and less than desired feel to the phone built.
Features
Samsung Omnia 2 runs on the Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. It also features Samsung's TouchWiz user interface which makes it easy to control the phone with a fingertip. Samsung has said that it will provide an upgrade to the Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro version when it becomes available later this year. Omnia 2 supports full HTML web browsing and 480p video recording and playback.
Camera
The 5 megapixel camera has a dual LED flash. Picture quality is acceptable with sufficient lighting. Video recording has improved. There is some noticeable delay in the camera. Video playback is great. It supports MPEG4, WMV, DivX, XviD, H.263 and H.264.
Performance
Performance is adequate. You will have no issues understanding the callers, but the voice quality could have been better. Sound too could have been a bit louder. Battery life on the Samsung Omnia 2 is above average with a 10 hours talk time rating. Standby is rated at 430 hours.
Conclusion
With Omnia 2, Samsung has done an excellent job of penetrating the Windows Mobile market. The biggest selling point of this phone is indeed the TouchWiz 2.0 User Interface. The menus are large and finger friendly. Omnia 2 comes very close to being the best, but there are a few things that hold it back. For instance, the lag experienced when navigating through the menus and options may get worse enough to wreck the entire experience. Look beyond these shortcomings and you may find Samsung Omnia 2 a great phone overall.
Availability
Samsung Omnia 2 is expected to be released by GSM carriers in Europe. The GSM version is quad-band based with HSPA 850/1900, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Verizon will most probably be the carrier of this phone in the US. The Verizon version will be a CDMA phone with EV-DO Rev.A.
